Sonos Announced New Second Gen Beam Soundbar-

Sonos has launched its second-gen beam soundbar with Dolby Atoms. Isn’t it amazing? Many of you are thinking about what’s so special in this soundbar. So, through this article, let me tell you about this unique Sonos soundbar. In this article, you will learn about its characteristics and why it is better than the former Sonos soundbar.

Sonos Second-gen Soundbar-

Sonos’ Beam soundbar has been redesigned with Dolby Atmos, a new look, and a higher price. The new Beam is also a little more expensive than its previous one. The original Sonos Beam, a small soundbar with an elongated pill form, has been maintained in the design of the speaker. It has Alexa and Google Assistant voice compatibility built-in. A more powerful processor, as well as a new phased array and HDMI eARC support, are among the Gen 2 soundbar innovations.

It has a central tweeter, four woofers, and three passive bass radiators. Beam’s new CPU is 40% quicker, allowing for a wide range of new audio formats. The new second-generation Beam will be available on October 5th for $449. That’s a $50 increase over the previous pricing, and it’s in line with the other price hikes revealed by Sonos last week.

Features of Sonos Second Gen Beam Soundbar-

This time Sonos has introduced a lot of new and innovative features to this soundbar. The following are some features of Sonos Second Gen Beam Soundbar-

  1. The soundbar is 6.2 pounds and is 25.63 x 3.94 x 2.72 inches (WxDxH). The second-generation Beam is nearly identical in size and weight to the first. On the first Beam, however, the wraparound net fabric has been replaced with a transparent, easy-to-clean polycarbonate frame.
  2. Another new feature is easy setup through NFC. It allows you to quickly join your new Beam to your Sonos system.
  3. The new processor in the second-generation beam, according to Sonos, is 40 percent quicker than the original’s CPU.
  4. In addition, for movies, TV, and music, the gen-two Beam supports Dolby Atmos.
  5. Overall, the Beam and the Arc, which costs twice as much as the Beam, support the same home theatre audio formats. To support these new formats, the new Beam features HDMI eARC.
  6. The two forward-facing speakers of the second-generation Beam’s five-speaker array are dedicated to recreating overhead and surround sounds.
  7. The Beam (Gen 2) includes Alexa and Google Assistant functionality, as well as AirPlay 2 and a Wi-Fi connection. It also has an Ethernet connection for connecting the soundbar to your network via Ethernet cable.
  8. Dolby atoms are supported by the soundbar. The components of a film soundtrack are arranged in a 3D sphere using this cinematic sound technology. This gives the impression that the music is coming at you from all sides.

Difference between Sonos Beam and Sonos Beam Gen2-

Let us see some of the differences in both the soundbars-

Design –

The Sonos Beam (Gen 2) and its predecessor have a similar design. Both soundbars are modest in size, measuring 2.72 x 25.63 x 3.94 inches (H x W x D). The only noticeable difference is that the fabric grille of the original Beam has been replaced with a polycarbonate front.

Audio performance –

The main difference between the two in audio performance is that the new soundbar supports Dolby Atmos. In comparison to the original Beam, which had three arrays, the second-gen Beam has five. The new Beam, like other Sonos speakers, employs Trueplay, a technology that adjusts the soundbar to the size of your space.

Connectivity-

The Beam (Gen 2) has Alexa and Google Assistant functionality, as well as AirPlay 2 and a Wi-Fi connection, much like the original Sonos Beam. Both soundbars have an Ethernet connection for hardwiring to your network. The Sonos Beam (Gen 2) has HDMI eARC compatibility, which is a new connection capability.

Almost all the features of the soundbars are the same. But Sonos has made minimal but effective changes in the new Sonos Gen 2. So, it is worth buying the new Sonos Gen 2.

The Sonos Beam 2nd-generation soundbar will be available on October 5th for $449.

It’s available for pre-order now directly from Sonos in either black or white.
