Introduction

Yes ! you have heard it right. Amazon is going to disallow Alexa from reading your emails out loud. Till now users could easily connect Alexa with their Google or Microsoft Gmail accounts and use Alexa to manage e-mails by commanding Alexa to check any latest email or check if any certain contact had sent an email. But as of now from 8th November this feature will shutter.

Alexa and Email

“We are writing to inform you that beginning on November 8th, 2021, email access will no longer be supported for Alexa customers. This means that you will no longer be able to link your Gmail or Microsoft email account with Alexa to browse or manage your emails, and any linked email account will automatically be unlinked.” – Amazon stated in a note to their users. Amazon explained their users that any Google or Microsoft outlook accounts will get disconnected automatically and Alexa won’t be able to read, reply or check any of the emails. Additionally, any other Alexa routine related to this feature will get deleted as well. Also the package tracking from emails won’t work anymore.

However, Amazon didn’t actually stated the real cause behind this changes may be because of privacy issues or maybe the features isn’t used that much. Whatever the reason is, it’s going to affect users with impaired version. Similarly, Apple also did the same thing with Siri last month by removing Siri’s ability to control emails.
