SONY TO PUT PS5’S “HEY PLAYSTATION!” VOICE COMMAND THROUGH A BETA TEST

Sony has released the second PS5 and PS4 beta upgrades, which include a number of new features and tweaks to the game consoles. The most significant of these is the voice commands functionality, which is now in preview and is scheduled to be released soon. Here’s a peek at some of the new PS5 and PS4 features.

Hideaki Nishino, the company’s Senior Vice President of Platform Experience, has posted a post on the official PlayStation Blog stating that the new PS5 system software beta is now available. According to Sony’s beta site, your PS5 may respond to the “Hey PlayStation!” to explore and access games, apps, and settings, as well as control playback during a show or a song, use voice commands. If you don’t want to utilize it, Sony says you may disable it in settings. The voice command capability will first be available in English for beta customers with accounts registered in the United States and the United Kingdom. With the next update, your PlayStation 5 might become an Alexa-like gadget.

Other changes and features to be updated: 

Changes will also be made to the party chats. Voice chats are now referred to as “Parties” and users can opt to open a party to allow other players to join without an invite. Users will also be able to report someone in a party, use Share Play directly from a voice chat, and adjust the volume of voice chats. There are also some Game Base upgrades. 

Aside from that, Sony has added a number of new features to its systems. To begin, users will be able to keep certain apps and games on the Home Screen for convenient access, as well as sort their game collection by genre. However, for the time being, these functionalities will only be available to beta testers. If you want to test out the new features on your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, you can sign up for the beta on Sony’s website.  According to Sony, if you are chosen, you will get a confirmation email to your registered email address.

The business also stated that the additional features will be accessible to the public later this year, though no specific date was given.
