GO PRO PLANS TO EXTEND ITS CAMERA LINE IN THE NEXT YEAR

Previously, Go Pro’s Hero portfolio included numerous models, with the White, Silver, and Black models forming a decent, better, best structure. The Session series, lightweight, screen-less, and robust cameras, were also produced by the firm.

Go Pro, a US-based action camera manufacturer, is set to expand its camera lineup with two more models, in addition to its current Hero and Max models, in the coming year. According to Go Pro CEO and founder Nick Woodman, the company intends to offer more specialized cameras while still using a lot of the same technology.

Go Pro isn’t going back to the “good / better / best” formula.

More models may not necessarily imply a return to the “good / better / best” business model, as described by the corporation. According to Woodman, the company’s former model comprised producing numerous camera models that all appealed to the same types of buyers. Its new strategy is to develop specialized cameras that “appeal to wholly different sets of people” than the Hero and Max. Go Pro’s plan also includes “new cloud features and an entirely new subscription-based desktop application.”

Woodman also mentioned that Go Pro will target the professional market. He claimed that Go Pro does not want to create a single “Swiss Army knife” camera for everyone. It also intends to provide “premium solutions” (or very good knives) for certain use-cases, with an emphasis on those who may require more than what Go Pro’s Hero and 360 cameras can now give.

Even though the new cameras are designed for different users, they will utilize Go Pro’s current technology. This makes sense given that Go Pro made such a big deal about their unique GP2 chips with the launching of the Hero 10.

While we don’t have many information at the moment, it’s certainly great news.
