Recently, Google has introduced three new features in its “Google Assistant Snapshot” feature, including new reminders and more proactive suggestions for new activities that you might want to try. In addition to the initial version of Snapshot, which provided information like your daily commute time, reminders, upcoming flight, upcoming schedule, stock market updates, and recent online orders, Google has added a list with additional reminders like upcoming birthdays or holidays too.

The “Google Assistant Snapshot” feature with its new updated version will also expand its recommendations. Previously, the app used to suggest YouTube videos or Spotify songs. But the recently updated version of the app will offer new recipe ideas, podcasts, or restaurants to order from, all based on the existing user data. Moreover, all of these suggestions, just like the snapshot mode, will update over the course of time too. So basically, you will no more receive breakfast recipe suggestions at dinner time; instead, in the morning, the app will show you a card about your commute, to-dos, weather report, and important headlines. Google product manager, Jacquelle Horton, wrote in a blog post update that the updated snapshot version will adjust based on the time of day and the interactions you make with Google Assistant.

Proactive Voice

It appears that the main motto of this newly updated version of the “Google Assistant Snapshot” feature is to encourage people to think of it as a starting hub for any other activities. Google wants to make both Android and iOS users rely on Snapshot, and as a result of which Google has added a new way to access it. Now, you just need to say, “Hey Google, show me my day” to pull up the view at any time in the assistant app instead of opening the app and tapping on the corner. Currently, the voice command feature is only available for those users who have English as their default language but will very soon roll out for more languages in the near future.

Moreover, as a result of the newly updated version keeping the user informed and suggesting Google actions to help navigate upcoming events, the voice assistant has become even more proactive. If it is one of your contact’s birthday, Google Assistant can send you a reminder notification, bringing you straight to an action card where you will be offered to call, text, or even sing a birthday song with the person’s name.

“Google Assistant will send you a notification for important tasks right around the corner to make sure you don’t miss it,” says Jacquelle Horton, Google Product Manager. So Snapshot is one of the best places to see everything you have got going on in one place. Besides, Jacquelle Horton assures all the users to continue to explore new ways for Google Assistant to be there to help even before you ask for it. Lastly, the recently updated Google Assistant features are now available in the assistant app on iOS and Android.
