iRobot integrates with Amazon Alexa to let users control over Roomba Vacuums just by asking simple Alexa commands. With this new level of advancement Roomba is going to be the first robotic cleaner to have room specific cleaning voice commands. Also the abilities of Alexa Hunches will automatically operate smart devices when AI remembers the best.

Roomba and Alexa

Back in 2017,Roombas used to used to respond to a limited number of Alexa commands but with upgradation of technology it has enhanced conversational AI allowing proactive control by Alexa over Roomba Vacuums. And with this enhanced conversational AI, Roomba can understand more specific place and timing commands. For example, if you ask Alexa to command the vacuum to clear the area under dinning table then vacuum’s AI will automatically detect the place using internal maps. Also they are now able to Set specific timing schedule to get done work on time.

To avoid standing beside your Roomba Vacuums to supervise them iRobot has included Alexa Announcement feature, through which Roomba Vacuums will alert users that the work is done. So that they don’t have to be around of the device. And using the Alexa Hunches feature, Alexa will observe the common behavior or users and will suggest the cleaner according to that automatically. So, you don’t have to be present in the house to get works done. However, it totally depends upon the users to enable this feature.

Regarding this integration with Amazon Alexa iRobot CEO Colin Angle said “We believe robots should be thoughtful and responsive, and clean according to the user’s unique preferences. The combination of advanced navigation, object identification and advanced voice-enabled technologies lets people interact with them in a more natural way, gaining greater control of their smart home.”

And according to Amazon smart home vice President David Shearer ““Technology is at its best when it disappears into the background, allowing you to be more present in the world around you. That’s why we’re inventing for a future where devices, services, and artificial intelligence work together to create proactive and personalized experiences,”.
