Spotify has decided to eliminate the ‘car view’ option from all of its versions of the mobile app. The reason behind this initiative is to encourage the voice control of streaming services. The feature now has been already disappeared from its’ Android devices.

Car view and Voice control

The ‘Car View’ feature was first introduced in 2019 to make it easier for drivers to control few things which is quite similar to automotive modes introduced for smartphones like Apple CarPlay, android auto. And the elimination of this ‘car view’ option will open more ways where Spotify wishes to go next and encourage users to have a hands-free experience by controlling via Google assistant voice command rather than using the touchscreen.

“We can confirm that we’re retiring the car view feature. This however doesn’t mean we don’t want to improve on how our users listen to Spotify while driving,” “On the contrary, we’re actively exploring a variety of new ways to deliver the best in-car listening experience. Think of retiring car-view as something that needs to happen to make way for innovations coming down the track.” Spotify announced in a blog post.
