Rumors had it, and it’s is now confirmed that Google food delivery in India is already in its initial stages. According to an ET report, the pilot program in New Delhi is already heading towards expansion.

Google is filling out orders in partnership with Indian food delivery startups. They are also planning to integrate Google Assistant into the whole layout to put up a tough battle against Amazon and Walmart subsidiary Flipkart.

The Indian giant quietly launched this app providing food delivery and home services in India. It has partnered with companies such as Box8, Fasoos and FreshMenu for food delivery, and UrbanClap and Zimmber for home services.

The company’s spokesperson said, in an email to Livemint, “We are constantly experimenting with ways to better serve our users in India. In this case, Areo makes everyday chores and ordering food easier by bringing together useful local services like ordering food or hiring a cleaner in one place.”

Apparently, rumors have it that Google has been exploring its partnerships for about eight to ten months now, and rolled out a pilot program for its employees about three months ago. However, Google food delivery in India launched just recently doesn’t make much sense with the pandemic going on and the economy suffering a hit.

How is it going to work?

The Google food delivery service in India is akin to the one in the US. It’s no news that people often search for restaurants, or bars, or salons, and so forth ‘near them’ on Google. Google decided to work this feature to its advantage.

People now searching for places and restaurants near them will get recommendations of restaurants in their close proximity. Google shall also offer food options that it would offer to deliver. It has successfully devised a stunning marketing strategy while increasing convenience for its users at the same time.

The actual food delivery will be done by Dunzo, one of the many Indian startups that Google decided to invest in.

Google Assistant’s Role in Google Food Delivery in India

In the US, orders placed while delivering through Google assesses voice command. Meaning, people in the United States can place orders through their voice assistants with a mere command.

There is no surety whether this feature will roll out for India’s Google food delivery layout or not, but rumors lean to the positive side, and there are a lot of reasons supporting the same.

Google is currently collaborating with a French restaurant called Carrefour, to develop a voice-based app that allows people to shop for groceries with the help of Voice. Basically, a whole series of upcoming developments to make Google Assistant our personal butler.

Especially with the all-new features of Voice Match that enable users to shop securely, Google’s is leaving no stone unturned to ace this domain.

Other Reasons Supporting the Fact That We May Have Google Assistant Integrated Grocery Shopping Facilities Soon:

Amazon and Walmart have already begun theirs, what makes you think Google will stay behind? Walmart’s subsidiary Flipkart has set up a voice feature to let customers shop based on voice commands, either in English or Hindi.

Flipkart’s Supermart grocery store allows surfing with the help of mere speech. The AI can instantly grasp whether the user is speaking in English or Hindi, and even recognize a mix of both!

It has the ability to respond according to the language spoken in and works both on Flipkart’s Android mobile and web versions. Google food delivery is also trying to incorporate Google Assistant into it, and there’s not one reason that might convey otherwise.

Ceaseless Technological Advancements are Changing Our Lifestyles

All we can say is that Google wanting a pie in Indian food delivery space is indeed a smart move.

Online food delivery has become our support system since it first introduced itself, be it college students shunning hostel food and ordering food instead, to bachelors and working family members hardly having the time to cook.

Google food delivery in India is undoubtedly meant to skyrocket to success. However, a food for thought, will this smart move be smart enough, given the major hit these services are suffering from this pandemic?
