The Russian military is in its preliminary testing phase of making voice-controlled combat drones, as stated by media agency TASS. The infamous Marker voice-controlled combat drones resemble tanks reduced down to the size of a normal car. They are specifically curated to go onto battlefields and respond accordingly to military commands.

What Opt for Voice Technology?

The unmanned ground vehicles or military robots that mankind is working on were supposedly envisioned as tablets with computer-based controls. However, the majority later voted that voice-based technology shall result in a smoother workflow.

Russian Engineers’ Statement on Marker.

Russia’s National Center for Development of Technologies and Basic Elements of Robotics are collaborating extensively to incorporate voice AI into the Marker. The AI developers are figuring out an achievable way to program the Marker such that it combines the commands provided along with it’s surrounding environment and responds accordingly.

Oleg Martyanov who heads the center said that the Marker is learning to understand the commands received and act in a more humane manner, rather than a machine. They said that they are aiming to educate Marker to perform his own tasks at a certain distance from the operator which shall be determined by the robotic platform’s range.

How does Marker work?

As of now, the controller is not supposed to be more than three miles away when giving orders. The engineers are striving to increase the distance, probably hundredfolds. The drone is gradually supposed to decide its own route, and preferable use airborne reconnaissance to aid itself.

Have they used the voice-controlled combat drones in battle yet?

Although this whole technology is new, Russia has been working on voice-controlled combat drones for quite some time now, deploying them for Syria. The voice-controlled combat drones haven’t been used in actual battle or in the Russian military as yet.

Wage a War of Voice

Even though nuclear weapons and quiet war preparations are not quite welcome, people all over the world are undoubtedly experimenting with it all under the sheets. Voice technology has now stepped into military armies to wage war against other countries, in the form of voice-controlled combat drones.

Is voice technology really limited to just Google searches and a few Alexa conversations? Or is it heading towards disastrous wars and battlegrounds?

Even though the leaders all over the world don’t openly talk about it, all are undeniable strategizing pre-war plans and using advanced technology to bring them to life.

Are we really striving towards an evolved and technologically advanced era?

Or just really calling our own doom upon us?
