Now Philips has announced its collaboration with Spotify to develop “deep integration of lighting and music”. That means your Philips hue bulb and lightstrip will change in time with the music and use different color shades according to the mood of the track as hue app now can access Spotify’s track metadata including track’s genre, mood and more.

So, to sync Spotify with Philips hue all you need is a Philip Hue setup, hue light that is color capable and a Spotify account, it doesn’t matter if it’s free or premium.

However, let’s get straight to how you can sync your Philips Hue lights with Spotify

  • Open the Hue app.
  • Click sync placed in the bottom bar and then click on get started button.
  • When the screen pops out, tap on the Spotify account.
  • To agree with the terms click Next and Next again.
  • Then again click next and you will be redirected to the login page of your hue account.
  • Again tap Next and you will be redirected to the Spotify app to authorize. After you agree with the terms you will be again redirected to the hue app.
  • You will notice a big tick indicating that you are all done.
  • Now, to create the entertainment area of your selected lights you want Spotify to sync with just click listening to music and give name to your entertainment area.
  • Select the lights you want to add.

And you are all done.
